About last night, after taking a colossal nap, we finally gathered enough energy to make our way downstairs to dinner. We threw some clothes on, and then looked everywhere for the room key. where was it? did the bellman forget to give it to us? he must have because it's no where to be found. we decide to go ahead to dinner and worry about it later. we walked out of the room and instantly realized we'd both forgotten to take our glasses. we're both basically blind as a bat as far as reading.. so we sigh and say okay maybe they'll let us in downstairs. so i go off to get us a table while Jeff deals with getting back in the room. a 1/2 hour later he finally comes to dinner. it took him that long to get them to open the door. he decided it was not worth the effort to go thru that twice (as they told him they wouldn't give him an extra key until tomorrow) so he leaves the door unlocked. of course i freak because all our cash, passports, dossier, everything is in the room. but we're so exhausted we throw caution to the wind and order dinner instead.
As I've said it's really beautiful here and everyone is incredibly nice. especially our waiter, who chatted with us a bit. i couldn't decide if he was just being polite or really curious to talk to us. but we were happy to talk to him too. we both decided to eat light-- especially me, since i still had a queasy stomach. i was sure to ask the waiter No Meat? and he said yes. so i felt confident it would be okay for me to eat. dinner comes and turns out my pizza is really an onion and peppers pizza. if you've ever had the sad experience to dine with me you'll know i can detect an onion particle a mile away. i try to pluck out the offending vegetables but no luck. the waiter comes by wanting to know why I'm scalping my pizza such. i tell him i am extremely allergic to onions -- a small exaggeration, but it usually prevents folks from saying oh don't worry these are so small they won't bother you. so off he goes to get me a new pizza. i ask him how to say onions so i can remember to always say NO ONIONS please. a few bites of food and we both decide we're more tired then hungry. we head back to our room and happily find all our possessions still there.
we were both sound asleep in minutes. this morning we got up around 5am which is great since this is the same as the kid's schedule. today we're just pretty much taking it easy. we went to breakfast, happy to discover a wide range of western style food. we're both not quite ready to explore the more local cuisine. Jeff was thrilled to find a pastry table with chocolate goodies!
We just came back from a short walk around the property. it's a wonderful day as it's raining a bit and very overcast. weather to encourage us to stay in the room and relax. i can't say enough how gorgeous it is here. it reminds me so much of our hotel in Kauai. I tried organizing the room a bit and finally gave in. we're still so wobbly. Jeff is taking a nap right now. we both agreed we'd stay on property today and just do nothing -- something kinda hard for me as a general rule.
note from Jeff to ME: "we've only been here 24 hours how much can you write about?" silly man, he's just figuring out how talkative i am????
